After teaming up on hits like "Stay Schemin'," "Pop That," and "No Shopping," French Montana reunites with Drake on their latest collaboration "No Stylist."
The London On Da Track production is a celebration of flyness and designer brands. While French name checks Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Louboutin, Drake takes a shot at Kanye West on his previously-leaked verse. "Keepin' it G / I told her don't wear no 350s around me," he raps, a reference to Kanye's popular Yeezy 350 sneakers.
The collaboration came together when Drake visited French in Miami. "I just played him my music from my album, and he heard 'No Stylist' and fell in love with it and he was like, 'This is the one you and me should come out with,'" French told Zane Lowe on Beats 1. "Some people make music but you could tell they're not friends. We make music and me and him kind of like the same things in life, we from the same era, so it just came together."
He continued, "With people like us at this level of our career, we don't do stuff for money anymore. Where we at now is more like we don't do stuff unless we love it, unless it feels right. But I love that I'm in that space that we can make classic music. We always come together once a year and do one of those special ones."
"No Stylist" appears on French's three-song EP of the same name, which also includes "Juice" and "Nervous." The project is available now, while French readies the follow-up to 2017's Jungle Rules, which is finished, but untitled.
