Mr. Noble and Prof. Rufus spend time in the restaurant and invite Mrs. Clara (Mr. Pius's new wife) to join them. Mrs. Clara begins to invite guests to a get-together party to get to know her new neighbours and gets into an argument with Mrs. Jiminus in the process. Mr. Noble refuses to accept a gift from a young man he classifies as "ritualist". Mr. Pius confronts Mr. Jiminus to call Jennifer to order for insulting Clara.
