Ahmed said the WorldBank maintains that the impact of the COVID-19 on Nigeria will lead to severe amplified human and economic cost, which will move the country into a recession.
"The minimal usage of mobile internet is a lost opportunity for inclusive growth in Africa," Andrew Dabalen, WorldBank Chief Economist for Africa, said.
According to data by the Debt Management Office, Nigeria's major lenders include China, the WorldBank, African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, Japan, France and others.
The WorldBank says only 1.5 million of the 15 million targeted vulnerable Nigerian households have received the Federal Government's N25,000 conditional cash transfer.
Recently, the WorldBank disclosed that since May 2023, the naira has depreciated by 41 percent in the official market and by 30 percent in the parallel market.
While advising that the President on Thursday, to keep the prices deregulated, the WorldBank chief argued that the fuel subsidies had become unsustainable.
