It is to be noted that English remains the official language in the Nigerian Army. Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa languages could be used during Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities or interrogation.

Language barrierThere are over 500 indigenous languages in Nigeria. However, Nigeria has the English language as the official language. But most people prefer to speak their local language, especially in informal settings.
