Famous Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, snagged the "Best International Act" award at the 2023 BET Awards held on Sunday night in Los Angeles, United States of America.
British supermodel, Naomi Campbell presented the Best International Act award to Burna Boy, who gave his acceptance speech virtually due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
"Go to @BET_INTL to cast your vote," the tweet said. Popular Nigerian musicians, Wizkid and Burna Boy have also been nominated for the 2021 Bet Awards.
With the win, 'Essence' becomes the first African song to win a BETAward, and Wizkid becomes the first Nigerian and African to win an award outside the Best International Acts category.
BET in a list released on its social media channels, BET showed that the multiple award winning singer will compete against other international acts, including Drake, Chris Brown, The Weekend and Usher in the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist category

We reported that award winning Nigerian musician, Burna Boy who was nominated alongside Wizkid won the best International act on the recently concluded BET awards.
This is the second international award the 'African giant' as fondly called by fans has clinched this year. He also won the Best International Act award at the 2019 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.
Burna Boy beat the likes of Sho Madjozi, Santan Dave and Stormzy to win the award on Sunday. In a video shared on BET, Burna Boy reacting to his win thanked his fans and organizers for their love.
