Former VP, Atiku Abubakar has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) party. Abubakar confirmed this in a statement he personally signed on Friday. He also gave reasons for quitting the party.
The seven-men panel also dismissed the appeals filed by Atiku and his counterpart, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, adding that their appeal lacks merit.
"Yes, when it started, it was meant for Atiku to succeed Obasanjo. In the presence of these distinguished leaders of goodwill today, let me say it openly that we have reviewed what went wrong on the side of Atiku.
Atiku said this while replying the comment made by the spokesperson of the APC, Yekini Nabena, who in a statement released, questioned Atiku's source of wealth.
"As our candidate HE Atiku said in his final message of the campaign 'Even if you are not voting for me, still come out to vote on Saturday. It is about Nigeria, not Atiku Abubakar. It is about you and your future.'"
