ELC: Son reacts as Conte begins Tottenham career with 3-2 win over Vitesse

New Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte has started his new life in north London on a good note.

Tottenham managed to beat Dutch side, Vitesse 3-2 in the Europa League Conference on Thursday despite a spirited fightback from the visitors who finished the match with nine men.

The Italian gaffer was only named Tottenham's manager on Monday following the sack of Nuno Espirito by Spurs Chairman, Daniel Levy.

Conte received a standing ovation from the home fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and watched his side go 3-0 up inside 28 minutes.

But Vitesse pulled two goals back before half-time and threatened to draw level in the second-half.

Conte's side clung on, however, as Vitesse were unable to break the London sides down, with their two players, captain Danilho Doekhi and goalkeeper Markus Schubert given red cards for separate incidents.

Conte, who won the Premier League with Chelsea, named a first-choice Spurs team for his first game.

While it was a winning start for Conte, he has plenty of work to do, as Tottenham face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Following the 3-2 win, Spurs' Son said: "The most important thing is the three points. We made it hard but we got the win.

"[Conte] took only two sessions. It was hard for him and the players. But we did well, especially in first 30 minutes, and I'm really looking forward to working with him."
