EPL: Chelsea return to top of table after 1-0 win at Brentford

Chelsea needed a Ben Chilwell stunner and several brilliant saves from Eduoard Mendy to grind out a 1-0 win at Brentford on Saturday.

The win saw Thomas Tuchel's men return to the top of the Premier League.

The Blues came into the game, knowing that Liverpool had thrashed Watford 5-0 to overtake them on the log.

They struggled to break down Brentford, only Chilwell volleyed in a loose ball just before the break.

However, in the second half, Chelsea needed Mendy to keep them in the game as the hosts fought back.

In the final 10 minutes of the game, the Senegal goalkeeper produced two fine stops to deny Saman Ghoddos and Pontus Jansson.

He also pulled off another stunning fingertip save from Christian Norgaard's volley in stoppage time.

Chelsea are now a point ahead of second-placed Liverpool, while Brentford stay in seventh position.
