Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has hinted that a deal to bring Kylian Mbappe to the club could be finalised on January 1.
Mbappe is currently into the final months of his current PSG deal.
From January, he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs.
Madrid tried all they could to bring Mbappe to the Bernabeu this summer, with PSG snubbing two big offers from the LaLiga side.
Perez told El Debate when asked for an update on their pursuit of Mbappe: "We hope that on January 1 everything can be solved."
Earlier this week, Mbappe revealed he informed PSG he wanted to join Real Madrid last July.
However, the Ligue 1 side remained adamant that the 22-year-old was going nowhere.
