EPL: Bruno Fernandes vows to continue taking Man Utd penalties after Villa miss

Bruno Fernandes has vowed not to shy away from taking penalties for Manchester United in the future, following his miss against Aston Villa on Saturday.

With United losing 1-0 at Old Trafford, the hosts were given a chance to clinch one point.

Referee Mike Dean awarded a spot-kick for handball against Kortney Hause and Fernandes stepped up to take it.

However, the Portugal midfielder sent his effort into the stands, as United tasted defeat for the first time this season.

Amid calls for Cristiano Ronaldo to take over the penalty duties from him, Fernandes has said he will be ready next time.

He wrote on Instagram: "Criticism and contrasting opinions are a big part of football. I've learned to live with it, even using them to drive me on, and I consider it all a very important part of my commitment to never stop trying to improve and to become the best player I can possibly be, for me and the team.

"Today I once again took the responsibility given to me almost since I joined United and I will take it again without any fear or dread whenever called upon."
