Europa League: Ex-Arsenal star, Mesut Ozil reacts after scoring first goal in three years

Former Arsenal star, Mesut Ozil, has reacted after scoring his first European goal in three years after leaving the Gunners to join Fenerbahce.

Ozil scored the only goal in Fenerbahce's Europa League 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

The playmaker tapped in from close range with his weaker right foot after just 10 minutes at the Deutsche Bank Park, but Fenerbahce were unable to hold onto their lead, with Sam Lammers equalising for their German club shortly before half-time of the encounter.

The 32-year-old's early goal marked the first time he has scored in European club competition since September 2018, when he netted in Arsenal's 4-2 win over Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League group stages at Emirates Stadium.

Reacting to the result after the game, Ozil in a tweet via his Twitter handle, described the outcome of the match as a 'crucial away point,' adding that his team had more possibility to win the tie.

"There was even more possible for us, but nevertheless a crucial away point #YaFenerYa#M1Ö#UEL," Ozil tweeted.

Ozil will now hope to lead Fenerbahce to victory when they take on Istanbul Basaksehir in their next fixture on Sunday.
