Young Boys vs Man Utd: Ronaldo equals Messi's record

Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Tuesday, equalled Lionel Messi's record in the Champions League.

Ronaldo opened the scoring as early as the 13th minute against Young Boys.

The Swiss club became the 36th side he has netted against in the Champions League, with only Messi scoring against as many different rivals in the competition.

Ronaldo has also equalled Iker Casillas' record for Champions League appearances.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer picked the 36-year-old to start the game and it was Ronaldo's 177th appearance in the competition.

The Portugal captain is the competition's all-time top goalscorer with 135 goals, including 17 in 2013/2014, the most in a single campaign.

Ronaldo also has more knockout-round goals than any other player with a total of 67 outside of the group stage.
