Borussia Dortmund seek season-long loan deal for Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi

Borussia Dortmund are eyeing up a move for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi before the transfer window closes.

Hudson-Odoi is yet to feature this season under Thomas Tuchel, but it is understood that the Blues want to keep the 20-year-old who can play on either wing and as a wing-back.

The German side have lost fellow England international Jadon Sancho this summer after he sealed a £73m move to Manchester United and although they have already brought in Dutch winger Donyell Malen from PSV Eindhoven, they remain keen on bringing in another wide option.

It is understood that Dortmund are not put off by Chelsea's stance that they want to keep Hudson-Odoi this summer, and will push further to get the deal over the line before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday, according to the Guardian.

Academy graduate Hudson-Odoi is thought to be open to a move to Dortmund if it means he can get more opportunities to play regular football. He would follow players like Sancho, Jude Bellingham and Reiss Nelson who all moved to Germany to play more high-quality senior football.

Speaking earlier this week, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said that Hudson-Odoi is expected to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea this season.

'There's always room for improvement here in training. It's hard to argue that he needs regular game time to improve his level. At the same time, it's not only about letting players go. If we want to compete in all competitions, it's also about numbers,' he said

'You need a squad of 20 to 21 players. I have the feeling that Callum decided to fight for his place here. He had a very good pre-season. The door is always open to sneak through. At the moment, there is no loan.'
