Manchester United release new retro home kit inspired by 1960s team, but Jadon Sancho isn't modelling it

Manchester United have unveiled their new home kit for the 2021/22 season, inspired by the shirt worn by some of the club's biggest legends.

The Red Devils' new strip is a clear nod to the kits worn by the successful 1960s team, which included club icons George Best, Sir Bobby Charlton and Denis Law.

England's Euro 2020 hero Luke Shaw modelled Man United's new kit, which is a throwback to the iconic long-sleeved shirt of the 60s

The clean Adidas shirt, which features a subtle striped pattern in the fabric of the shirt, also features new club sponsor, TeamViewer, while the ribbed collar and cuffs give the jersey a retro feel.

The long-sleeved version is a particular throwback to the era of Charlton, Best and Law.

The inner-collar is also branded with the words 'youth, courage and success', with young stars such as Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw and more United stars modelling the fresh new look for the team.

The Red Devils say the home kit 'celebrates those that came before us and led us to some of our greatest moments. Now it's time for a new generation to leave a mark'.

Fernandes will be crucial to Man United's hopes of success in the next 12 months

Manchester United fans will get to see the players wear the new kit for the first time when they take on Old Trafford legend Wayne Rooney's Derby Count in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

Supporters had hoped to see Jadon Sancho model the new kit with an official announcement of his £73million arrival expected in the forthcoming days.

However, it appears they will be made to wait with no sign of the England winger in the imagery for the 2021/22 jersey.
