Chelsea have £51m bid for Achraf Hakimi rejected by Inter

Chelsea have submitted an offer in the region of €60 million (£51.5m) to sign Inter defender Achraf Hakimi, according to reports in Italy.

The 22-year-old joined Inter in a €40m (£36m) deal from Real Madrid last summer and played a key role in the club's successful Serie A campaign under Antonio Conte this season.

Inter, however, are open to selling some of their key players in the current window in order to raise cash and Hakimi, who is capable of playing on either flank, has already attracted interest from several clubs.

According to Sky Sport Italia, both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have tabled offers of €60m (£51.5m) but the Serie A champions are holding out for a fee closer to €80m (£68.7m) for the Morocco international.

The report also claims that Chelsea have the edge over PSG as they can include two players - Emerson Palmieri and Andreas Christensen - as part of their offer for Hakimi.

It's understood that Inter would be keen on signing either Emerson or Christensen from Chelsea and allowing Hakimi to leave.

Emerson played just 89 minutes in the Premier League for Chelsea this season and has already been urged by Italy head coach Roberto Mancini to quit Stamford Bridge.

'It showed that he cared about me,' Emerson told The Telegraph when asked about Mancini's advice.

'He wants to see me doing well, so he said that perhaps it would be best for me if I headed to another ambitious team where I could play as much as possible and raise my game again.
