Five managers fight to replace Zidane as Real Madrid head coach

Real Madrid will be looking for Zinedine Zidane's replacement this season, with the Frenchman set to leave the club.

It is understood Zidane has informed his players that he will not be in charge next term.

Five managers are in the race to replace the 47-year-old in the Santiago Bernabeu hotseat.

According to the UK Mirror, they are: Max Allegri, Raul, Joachim Low, Antonio Conte and Carlo Ancelotti.

Allegri won the Serie A five times and added the Coppa Italia on four occasions while he was at Juventus, before he went on a sabbatical.

Raul spent almost two decades at the Bernabeu before leaving in 2010 but is now back coaching the club's B team and youth ranks. Florentino Perez has shown his willingness to promote from within having hired Zidane when he was B team coach and may again feel that a club legend who understands their traditions is the answer.

Low will leave his post as Germany's head coach after 15 years in charge following this summer's European Championships. The 2014 World Cup winner might consider managing a club, especially one of Madrid's stature.

Low's crowning achievement came in 2014 when he won the World Cup, although his stock has slightly fallen since that triumphant night.

Conte, 51, has enjoyed triumphs with Juventus and Chelsea previously, before winning the Serie A title with Inter Milan this year. His future in Italy remains uncertain and he could be headed to Spain.

Ancelotti was sacked as Real Madrid manager in 2015, but the Italian who is currently at Everton, could come back for a second spell.
