Transfer: Barcelona's bid to sign Haaland 'very difficult

Barcelona feel a deal to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund will be "very difficult" to do, sources at the Spanish club have told ESPN.

However, Barca will continue their pursuit of the 20-year-old striker.

New Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, met with Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, last Thursday to discuss a transfer.

Raiola and Haaland Sr. also met with Real Madrid representatives later in the day.

It is understood Laporta left the meeting committed to trying to sign the Norway international, but there is also an acknowledgement that the club's financial situation is likely to impede a potential deal.

Barca's gross debt has risen to nearly €1.2billion and the club need to reduce their wage bill.

Dortmund would demand around €180m for Haaland this summer, while reports claimed Raiola and Alf-Inge Haaland would each want €20m in commission, in addition to a €30m net salary for Erling Haaland.
