Champions League: Man Utd goalkeeper asks club to terminate his contract

Manchester United goalkeeper, Sergio Romero, has asked the club to terminate his contract, the Daily Star reports.

Romero has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant as his first three choices.

The Argentine was regarded by many as the best No 2 stopper in the Premier League last season, but has been omitted from United's Premier League and Champions League squads this term.

The 33-year-old saw a deadline day move to Everton collapse and is unhappy with the club.
Romero has now held talks with United over his future and wants to leave so he can secure game time elsewhere.

He is understood to be earning £100,000-a-week and is in the final season of his contract at the club.
