Brighton vs Chelsea: Lampard reveals four players who will miss EPL opener

Chelsea head coach, Frank Lampard, has revealed that four players will miss his side's Premier League opener against Brighton on Monday night at the Falmer Stadium due to injury and lack of match fitness.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference at Cobham on Thursday, Lampard said that Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Billy Gilmour would not feature for Chelsea against Brighton.

Chelsea head to the game following a 1-1 draw with Brighton in a pre-season friendly tie last month.

"Hakim Ziyech took an injury to his knee against Brighton in the friendly game so he won't be fit,' Lampard said as quoted by Chelsea's official website.

"We hope it's a matter of weeks, hopefully, a couple of weeks, but we will have to see on that one.

"Ben Chilwell is working towards fitness. He won't be fit for Brighton.

"Thiago Silva is now in London but not training with us until the weekend, so I doubt very much he will be in contention for the Brighton game.

"Other than that, Billy Gilmour is a longer-term injury, he'll be out for a couple of months more, but other than that we're in decent shape."

The match kick-off time is 8:15 pm.
