Juventus vs Lyon: Cristiano Ronaldo breaks 95 years record

Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Friday night, broke the club's record for the most goals scored in a single season by a player following his team's exit from the Champions League.

Ronaldo netted twice against Lyon in the round of 16 second leg tie to take his goals tally for Juventus this season to 36, a record which stood for 95 years, according to ESPN.

Ronaldo's two goals were not enough to qualify Maurizio Sarri's men for the quarter-final of the Champions League as Memphis Depay scored a goal for Lyon at the Allianz Stadium to make it 2-1 after full time.

However, Juventus lost 1-0 to the Ligue 1 club in the first leg in February.

Lyon advanced into the last eight on an away goal rule after a 2-2 draw aggregate.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo, 35, has already won the Serie A title with Juventus this season.

The Portugal captain joined Juve from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 after leading the Los Blancos to win the Champions League.
