Aubameyang nets brace as Arsenal destroy Chelsea to win 2020 FA Cup title

Arsenal on Saturday evening, August 1, defeated bitter rivals Chelsea 2-1 to win the 2020 English FA Cup with Gabonese striker Aubameyang scoring the two goals for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta and his wards knew before the game that a win will be a glorious one for them considering their failure to finish among the top four teams.

The Gunners got the first chance to score in this encounter through Aubameyang, but he was caught offside by the referee in the 4th minute.

Chelsea took the lead in the fifth minute through Christian Pulisic who benefited from an assist by Olivier Giroud in which Arsenal goalie Martinez had no choice.

But the Gunners responded in the 28th minute via a penalty that was scored by Aubameyang after defender Cesar Azpilicueta brought him down.

The referee first consulted the VAR, before he gave the Gunners the penalty as the first half ended with Arsenal leading.

Chelsea had the chance to restore parity in the 47th minute through Jorginho who was set up by Giroud, but he failed to score.

Nicolas Pepe provided a wonderful pass in the 68th minute for Aubameyang to score Arsenal's second goal of the game.

The Blues were reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute after a dangerous challenge by Mateo Kovacic on Granit Xhaka in which the referee gave him his second yellow card.
