Manchester City agree £41m transfer deal with Bournemouth for Nathan Ake

Manchester City have reportedly agreed a deal with Bournemouth to sign Nathan Ake.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked with Ake in recent weeks but the 25-year-old defender will negotiate personal terms with City and a full agreement is expected over the coming days.

The Netherlands international impressed in a struggling Bournemouth side this season and has looked destined for the exit door at the Vitality Stadium ever since their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.

According to The Daily Mail, the Cherries have accepted a £41million offer from City for Ake, more than double the what they paid Chelsea (£20m) for the defender back in 2017.

Pep Guardiola has prioritised a move for a quality centre-half to come in and partner Aymeric Laporte at the heart of City's defence.

The Dutchman's arrival would cast serious doubt over John Stones' future, who has failed to nail down a place in Guardiola's starting XI since his £47.5m move from Everton four years ago.

Ake's defensive partner, Lloyd Kelly, could also be on his way out of Bournemouth this summer, with Liverpool plotting a bid for the versatile England Under-21 international.
