Lionel Messi finally decides the club he wants to play for amid Barcelona transfer speculation

Lionel Messi is reportedly set to sign a new contract at Barcelona to finally put an end to speculations amid transfer interests by several other clubs.

The Argentine's contract at the Camp Nou will end at the end of next season, but reports from Spain say the 33-year-old is set to put pen to paper for him to remain at the club until 2023.

Messi who joined the club's academy in 2001 has matured to win six Ballon 'd'Or and has scored a massive 629 goals in 720 appearances in all competitions for club and country, establishing himself as one of the greatest players of all time.

Although many want the player to seek competition elsewhere as he has spent his entire career with the Catalan club, Messi is reportedly considering renewing his contract.

Meanwhile, Barcelona vs Leganes ended 2-0 in favour of the home side as La Blaugrana return to their home ground after the three months break.

Ansu Fati and Lionel Messi scored in each half of the match to hand the La Liga champions the much-needed win to remain top the table.

Leganes should have gone two goals ahead in the opening 15 minutes of the match as Miguel Angel Guerrero squandered both opportunities.

Ansu Fati did not make a mistake in the 42nd minute as his right-foot shot went through the legs of Rodrigo Tarin to beat Ivan Cuellar in goal to make it 1-0.

Antoine Griezmann thought he has made it 2-0 in the 66th minute when he was on hand to finish a low cross from Fati but after the referee checked the VAR, the goal was not given.

There were no further goals in the match as Quique Setien's side bagged all three points and increased their lead to five points ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
