Nigerian star gets private jet from his club to return home for late father's burial

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick has stated that Lille OSC of France have given Victor Osimhen a private jet for him to return home for his late father's burial.

Osimhen announced the death of his 80-year-old father who passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, May 23.

Victor's father played an important role in his football career as he helped him on his way to the zenith of his career.

The Super Eagles man has been impressive for French side Lille since he joined them as replacement for Nicolas Pepe who has moved to Arsenal.

"I have spoken to Victor Osimhen and expressed the sorrow of the NFF and the entire Nigerian Football family," Pinnick was qouted by the NFF website.

"His club Lille OSC of France have given him a private aircraft to come to Nigeria to be with his family and probably for the burial rites.

This is coming barely two weeks that English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur officially placed a bid for the Super Eagles youngster.

There were earlier reports that €85million was earlier tendered for the 21-year-old by an unnamed club, but top France outlet Le10Sport are claiming that the bid came from Spurs.

Earlier speculations have it that one of the PL big clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United, have tendered that bid.

Osimhen has scored 13 goals in Ligue 1 for Lille this season and a move to Tottenham could be on the cards as things stand.

The 21-year-old has already been linked with a move to Liverpool having scored 13 goals in 27 French League appearances in his debut season at Lille.
