Panic for Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr after NFF gives him 1 week deadline to meet set target

Nigeria Football Federation has given the Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr just one week to sign the new contract he was served.

The 66-year-old's current deal with the country's senior national team elapses next month and he has been handed a chance to extend his stay on the job.

NFF had earlier revealed that they had inserted a few clauses into the new deal the German-born tactician is expected to sign if he wants to remain in charge of the team.

Some of which could be responsible for the delay in signing the papers which the coach received last month.

"The executive committee mandated the general secretary to liaise with Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, with a view to concluding all matters around his new contract within the next one week," according to a statement by the NFF.

Gernot Rohr has been in charge of the Nigerian national team since August 2016 after replacing Sunday Oliseh as the coach.

He qualified the three-time African champions for the 2018 World Cup and one year later, led them to win bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations championship in Egypt.

The former Burkina Faso handler has also built a young and talented squad that can face any opposition at any level.
