Juventus reject £66m offer from Barcelona for one of their stars and he's a defender

Juventus fans will now heave a sigh of relief after the club reportedly turned down Barcelona's £66million offer for sensational defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Reports have it that the player has already settled well in Turin with his girlfriend with a hope to remain at the club for some time.

Barcelona have been eyeing the 20-year-old for a long time and narrowly missed out on the player last summer who left Dutch side Ajax to Juventus for the same £66million.

Although, he has had a tough time settling with the team and the case compounded by the lockdown, no thanks to the coronavirus crisis.

De Ligt is reportedly living with his girlfriend Anneke Molenaar in Italy - which has seen him take to life in the country with ease. When it comes to deciding whether to let him go, De Ligt's happiness is viewed as crucial to Juventus.

Meanwhile, Manchester United may have suffered a major set back in their chase for Paulo Dybala who has reportedly agreed to extend his stay at Juventus until 2025.

The Argentine superstar was closed to joining the Red Devils last summer but his Italian League club stopped that deal from happening.

Dybala has since then become an integral part of coach Maurizio Sarri's squad as they edge to another Serie A triumph this season.

The forward has scored 13 goals and 12 assists in 34 games in all competitions before football went on break in mid-March due to the outbreak of deadly coronavirus.

Juve's sporting director Fabio Paratici told Sky Sport Italia that the club intends to keep their player from joining another club anytime soon.
