As lockdown is gradually being eased across the globe, clubs in Italy have voted for the 2019/2020 Serie A season to resume on June 13.
It was gathered that sixteen of the clubs voted for the season to restart on that day during a meeting on Wednesday, May 13, while four other clubs voted for it to resume a week later June 20.
The season was suspended in mid-March following the widespread of the deadly coronavirus which has now killed over 31,000 people in Italy with the country having over 222,000 confirmed cases.
Protocol here stated that a situation where one member of a team tests positive for coronavirus after May 19 will force the entire squad to be quarantined for 15 days.
It is believed that the June 13 date for a restart will allow clubs to have time to complete the season as well as the Coppa Italia which was suspended after the first leg of both semifinals.
No fewer than 19 Serie A players tested positive for coronavirus with Fiorentina and Sampdoria confirming six and four cases respectively last week.
Meanwhile, with Serie A players gradually returning to Italy ahead of a possible continuation of the 2019/2020 league season, French star Adrien Rabiot has refused to return to Juventus, SunSort reports.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and he could reportedly be forcing a move to the Premier League club.
All 20 Serie A clubs have voted in favor of completing the current league season, despite the coronavirus risk.
This followed an emergency meeting held on Friday, May 1, amid reports several sides including Torino FC and Brescia wanted the season scrapped.
