Mourinho to stop former clubs Chelsea and Man United from signing top rated star this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly jumped in the chase for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

Jose Mourinho is hoping he can land the Serbian star valued around £80 million as a replacement for Christian Eriksen who joined Inter Milan earlier this year.

Manchester United and Chelsea are other Premier League clubs interested in the player's signature as they plan for the coming season.

The 25-year-old has scored five goals and seven assists in 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

SunSport quoting Italian news outlet reports that the Serie A club might have issues holding on to their player with money bags lining up for his signature.

Lazio earlier stated that their player is not for sale but their sporting director Igli Tare has revealed if the player wants to leave the club it "shouldn't be a problem" but it would have to be decided at the end of the season.

Tare told Sky Sport Italia: "The player's desire is crucial.

"Generally speaking, if a player thinks that their time is up and wants to go somewhere else, it shouldn't be a problem.

"Eras come to an end. The fact he stayed in Rome for five years is because he has strong links with the city and club.

"When there was some temptation, a bit on our part, a bit on his, we never went all the way. "However, things must be assessed at the end of the season."
