Mikel Obi makes another huge donation of food to the needy amid coronavirus crisis

Super Eagles star John Obi Mikel has donated bags of rice, beans and noodles and others around a Jos community to help the poor who have been affected by the coronavirus crisis.

This is the second time within the space of two weeks he has donated food items to the needy, as he posted on the exercise on his Instagram handle.

Mikel spent most of his childhood in the Plateau state capital and now he has returned to assist the communities that made him.

In the latest photos, quite a number of food items were put in bags and then distributed to those who looked vulnerable, as coronavirus continues to cripple the economy.

And this is coming barely 24 hours that the ex-Chelsea midfielder made a post on his Instagram story with pictures of the items and a banner of himself wearing the Nigerian jersey.

"Together we can all help. Today in Jos. Where I grew up," he captioned the post.

Also, Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has once again shown his generosity as he made a donation of £80,000 to help Muslims who have been affected by the coronavirus crisis during the Ramadan.

The German international who is of Turkish descent has promised to help no fewer than 16,000 Muslims with food all through the month of Ramadan which started on April 23.

His charity organization Turkish Red Crescent will henceforth provide iftar, the evening meal for Muslims to break their daily fast, which will go to families across Turkey and Syria with 2,000 packages expected to be donated.

Kerem Kinik, of Turkish Red Crescent, said: "At the Red Crescent, we stand by those in need 365 days a year.

"Thanks to our brother Mesut, we will be able to deliver packages provided to people in need - delivering them as soon as possible."

Mesut Ozil is one of the highest earners of the game and he has used his money judiciously to help the needy.
