Sad day in football as 21-year-old Brazilian footballer tragically dies amid COVID-19 pandemic

The football world was on Wednesday, April 29, plunged into mourning after promising young football player Kaio Felipe Santos Silva tragically passed away in a freak accident. 

According to several reports, Kaio Felipe died after a kite he was flying came in contact with live electricity wires, electrocuting him in the process. 

The late 21-year-old Brazilian played his football for Independente, a popular football club in the heart of Brazil's most populated city. 

It was gathered that Kaio hit the electric cable while flying a kite in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and died instantly in the current. 

Kaio Felipe Santos Silva previously played for Inter Milan's U20 team before making the move to Independente in Brazil.

Independente were among the first parties to pass their condolences through their official social media. 

"With a feeling of regret Independente Football Club report the death of our player Kaio Felipe," a message from the club's social media said. 

Primarily a left back, Kaio Felipe began his football with club Inter de Limeira before moving to Centro Sportivo Paraibano.

 For Independente, he scored six goals in 22 appearances despite his defensive playing position. Independente fans flocked social media with condolence messages as others expressed disbelief at Kaio's passing.
