See the 5 leagues still playing football despite coronavirus pandemic (one is in Africa)

Despite the threat posed by the coronavirus pandemic, there are up to five football leagues globally still in action.

Sporting activities and football in particular has been severely hit with Europe's major leagues currently grounded in an effort to combat the spread of virus.

The Belarusian Premier League is the only active league in Europe, attracting massive following from soccer fans who are desperate for a football fix.

To increase its visibility, the country's football federation even struck a deal with broadcasters in more than 10 countries including Russia and India.

Interestingly, the matches are even attracting fans who are turning out in their numbers to cheer their favorurite teams.

Belarus has reportedly nearly 3,000 COVID-19 cases, with 29 deaths according to the latest figures cited by CNN.

Tajikistan, a country in central Asia also has an active league alongside Nicaragua but have games playing behind closed doors.

In Africa, only Burundi has stood firm against criticism and have matches playing on with fans making to the pitch in complete contravention of Wolrd Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.

Meanwhile, Taiwan recently became the latest to have their league restart with the campaign set to officially kick off on Sunday, April 19.
