Premier League squad drop in value worth £1.6bn die to COVID-19 outbreak

Premier League squads have dropped in value totaling £1.6billion due to the Coronavirus crisis, according to a football statistics website.

Man City are the biggest losers this period after incurring a loss worth £225million weeks after footballing activities have been put on hold across the globe.

Transfermarkt calculates a player's value using a variety of data and the aggregated estimates of site users.

Raheem Sterling remains the most expensive player in the Englistopflight division, but his price has dropped by £29m to £115m.

The entire squad at the Etihad have dropped from £1.1bn to £917m followed by league leaders Liverpool whose value slipped to £205m.

Four of the Reds players are among the affected players in value including - Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.

Relegation-threatened Norwich City have suffered the least losses with their team dropping by £21m difference.

The reason is that their most priced players including Todd Cantwell, Max Aarons, Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis - were all born after 1998.
