Top Premier League manager loses mum to COVID-19 days after donating £920k to help fight virus

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola's mother has died from coronavirus.

The club announced this in a statement on Twitter.

The club expressed sadness over the death of Dolors Sala Carrió in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting coronavirus.

The post read: "The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death of Pep's mother Dolors Sala Carrió in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting coronavirus. She was 82 years old.

City paid tribute and offered its condolences to Guardiola

"Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends," the tweet added.

Guardiola has donated the sum of £920,000 (€1million) to help in the fight against coronavirus in Spain.
