Guardiola warns Liverpool after Man City won Carabao Cup

Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, has warned Liverpool that they will find it difficult to stay on top in English football for the next couple of years.

Guardiola said this after Man City defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday to claim third consecutive EFL cup, thanks to two goals from Sergio Aguero and Rodri.

Guardiola's men won their eighth domestic trophy from the last nine available to continue their dominance of English football.

"It is remarkable, from the last nine titles to win eight," Guardiola said after the game as quoted by Express UK.

"It would be so difficult for anyone [including Liverpool] to do it again.

"Not just for us but for our opponents, too. When you have a team that is incredible in the Premier League, so many champions drop after winning the league."

Man City are 22 points off Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The Citizen have defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.
