Chelsea are set to hijack the bid of David Moyes' West Ham United to sign 21-year-old midfielder, Gedson Fernandes from Benfica, Sky Sports reports.
Fernandes has drawn interest from Moyes over the past few weeks.
Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard is ready to spend £55 million for Fernandes in order to thwart Moyes' hopes of signing the Portuguese youngster this January.
Chelsea want Fernandes to move to Stamford Bridge on loan for 18months.
Fernandes has been impressive for Benfica so far this season
He has a £102million release clause on his current deal with Benfica.
