Chelsea finally close to signing top African star as Eden Hazard's permanent replacement

Chelsea are reportedly close to the signing of Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha with emerging reports claiming Blues are ready to splash £80 million for the sensational forward.

Zaha became a sudden target for the top Premier side following his impressive brilliance in the heart of Palace's attackline.

Chelsea are set to reinforce their squad after their ban was recently halved by CAC, with Frank Lampard targeting a couple of stars including Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner in January.

According to Fox Sports, the Europa winners are now leading the race for the 27-year-old Ivorian star who was earlier linked with a move to Arsenal in the last summer.

Zaha has become a constant figure at Selhurst Park since joining them in February 2015 from Manchester United.

With 56 goals and 68 assists in 345 appearances across competitions, Chelsea have lined up the Ivorian as a permanent replacement for Eden Hazard who joined Real Madrid in the last summer.

Zaha has also reportedly hired Pini Zahavi who is related to Chelsea's Russian owner Roman Abramovich for negotiation over potential Stamford Bridge switch.

Chelsea, who have been pretty inconsistent in the Premier League having been winless in 10 of 21 games, are presently fourth on the log with cheeky 36 points behind Manchester City, Leicester City and league leader Liverpool.

And a serious deal from both ends may see Zaha switch side in January transfer market as Lampard hopes to boost his young squad with experience.
