La Liga giants complete signing of top Nigerian star from English club

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has completed a short term loan move to La Liga side Getafe until the end of the ongoing season according to Football Espana.

Los Azulones signed the Nigerian football star as a replacement for Markel Bergara who announced his retirement owing to the numerous injuries he has suffered.

However, the 24-year-old has the next six months to convince the Coliseum Alfonso Perez's outfit to hand him a permanent deal at the end of the campaign.

Etebo is not alien to the Spanish League having represented Las Palmas 14 times in the second half of the 2017/18 season. He could not help them avoid relegation after his loan spell.

The former Feirense of Portugal star moved to England after the 2018 FIFA World Cup on a deal valued around €7.2 million.

He featured for his country's national team in Russia two years ago but was unable to stop them from crashing out at the group stage.

In the first half of the 2019-20 season, Etebo 11 Championship games for struggling Stoke - starting just eight matches for them.

The midfielder was however allowed to leave the club as they hope to reduce their wage bull to avoid going bankrupt.
