EPL: De Bruyne sends message to Man City over Arteta taking Arsenal job

Manchester City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, has told the club not to stand in Mikel Arteta's way, if he wants the Arsenal job.

Arteta is the leading candidate for the role, after talks with Gunners officials at his mansion in Manchester on Sunday.

Further talks are expected with the Spaniard keen to return to the Emirates, after working alongside Pep Guardiola at the Etihad for three and a half years.

De Bruyne feels Arteta should be allowed to go, if he wants to pursue a top job.

"If he gets a good opportunity to be a head coach, and he thinks it's time for him to take that, I think as a club you need to let somebody go.

"You want to grow as a head coach. If he doesn't, it's his decision, but why, otherwise, start coaching in that way?

"Whatever he wants to do, you have to do it. If you want to grow, you need to take opportunities when they come," De Bruyne said, according to the UK Mirror.
