Premier League giants Arsenal have reportedly turned their attention to former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti after he was sacked at Italian side Napoli on Tuesday night, December 10.

The Gunners have been without a permanent manager since Spaniard Unai Emery was fired due to poor run of form and was replaced with Freddie Ljungberg on interim capacity.

Carlo Ancelotti was thrown out after having a bust-up with Napoli president Aurellio who kicked the Italian despite 4-0 win over Genk.

"Napoli has decided to revoke the role of first-team coach from Mr Carlo Ancelotti.

"The rapport of friendship, admiration and reciprocal respect between the club, its president Aurelio De Laurentiis and Carlo Ancelotti remain intact,'' Napoli made in official statement.

Arsenal's four-man recruitment team have started whittling down a hit-list of more than 12 managerial candidates to succeed Unai Emery.

According to the report on UK Sun, Arsenal have already held talks with Valencia coach Marcelino, former Porto boss Vitor Pereira and Bordeaux's Paulo Sousa.

Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira who is now in charge of Nice is also reported to be in the race for the Arsenal job as well as Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently occupying ninth position on the Premier League standings with 22 points after 16 games.
