Champions League: Lampard reveals why Chelsea lost 1-0 to Valencia at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has revealed why the club fell 1-0 at home to Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday.

He said Chelsea created most of the chances in the game but couldn't find back of the net, coupled with the penalty missed by Rose Barkley.

Lampard's side were making their return to the Champions League group stages after missing out last season.

However, their first game ended in disappointment as a second half Rodrigo goal sealed victory for the La Liga side.

Ross Barkley had a late chance to equalise from the spot, but the England midfielder put the penalty over the bar.

Lampard told reporters after the game, "Without a doubt, probably a win, at least a draw. Created enough, good chances. The penalty and we concede with one shot on target. A game we played pretty well and lost.

"Pulisic is well in the plans, but with the Champions League Pedro has experience and it was a decision to make.

"For sure, losing at home first game makes it tough. We have a league game in the meantime, in the context it is one game done. Teams will take points off each other, we can't be too downbeat."
