Super Eagles star Chukwueze sets 1 new record at AFCON 2019 after scoring vs South Africa

Villarreal youngster Samuel Chukwueze has set new record at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after becoming the youngest player to score at the ongoing continental championship.

The 20-year-old opened scoring for the Super Eagles in their semifinal clash against South Africa at the Cairo International Stadium.

Although his goal got canceled out by a VAR assisted goal from Bongani Zungu with less than 20 minutes to left to play.

However, Nigeria took the lead for the second time in the meeting after William Troost-Ekong threw himself into a Moses Simon's corner kick and found the back of the net.

The three time African champions have now joined Senegal in the semifinals and will play the winner of Algeria vs Ivory Coast at the last four stage.

Chukwueze has been one of the stand out performers in this tournament with his enterprising style of play.

He has made four appearances for coach Gernor Rohr's side since the start of the competition last month, but finally got his breakthrough against the Bafana Bafana.

At the end of the match, Chuekwueze also bagged the man of the match award to crown his efforts all through the match for Nigeria.

The winger scored five goals and assisted two others in 25 La Liga appearances for the Yellow Submarines last campaign.

Meanwhile, he could be joining a top club this summer having being linked with a move away from his present club.
