Here is how Premier League players came up with a solution for racism in football

Premier League stars have been urged to boycott social media for 24 hours as a response to the increased level of racial abuse that has plagued the much loved sport in recent days.

Several players have been racially abused in recent days and nothing seems to be done.

This has forced Sky Sports to back the PFA's anti-racism campaign #Enough by embarking on 24 hours of silence on social media.

Sky Sports launched the campaign to increase the pressure on social media companies and football authorities to take a stronger stand and action against racism.

Players plying their trade in England have now been urged to shun all forms of social media between 9am on Friday, April 19, to 9am on Saturday, April 20, in response to ever growing issue of racism in football.

Just recently, Man United duo of Ashley Young and Chris Smalling were racially abused after the Red Devils exit from the Champions League at the hands of Barcelona.

Smalling said after he was racially abused: "Throughout my career I have developed a thick skin against verbal abuse, justifying it as just 'part of the game', but the time has come for Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to consider regulating their channels."
