Ajax superstar who masterminded Real Madrid's UCL exit is wanted by Barcelona and Bayern Munich

German League giants Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to battle Barcelona for the signature of Ajax captain Matthijs De Ligt.

The 19-year-old was impressive for his Dutch League side when they ousted Real Madrid from the Champions League in the round of 16.

Coach Erik ten Hag suffered 2-1 defeat in the first leg last month but stepped up their performances as they stunned Los Blancos 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this week.

And the 19-year-old defender has now attracted interests from top European clubs, with Barca and Bayen topping the list.

ESPN FC however reports that the Catalans are optimistic that the highly-rated central defender will join them in the summer.

They are also hoping Frenkie de Jong will help lure his current teammate in the Dutch League to the Camp Nou.

According to the publication, the Spanish champions have publicly revealed their interests in signing De Ligt, but will have to contend with Bayern for the star.
