Sad day in Nigeria as important football personality dies after brief illness

Nigerian Professional Football League side Niger Tornadoes have announced the tragic death of their former chairman Yusuf Dauda who died on Wednesday night, February 27, at the age of 61.

According to the social media post by the club, Yusuf Dauda died in his house in Minna, Niger state after a brief illness and has been buried on Thursday, February 28.

Before the demise of Yusuf Dauda, he was also the president of the Nigeria Handball Federation, where he served as boss for eight years.

While speaking on his death, Haruna Ilerika who is the Secretary of the Nigeria Handball Federation, confirmed the demise of Yusuf Dauda

The former Kwara United chairman added that his death came as a great shock to the Federation and also to the football fraternity in Nigeria.

''Yes, it is true and we are bereaved because we have lost a very dedicated member who even after his tenure was still in the board and relevant.

''The Federation will sit down to talk on our next plan of action later because we are just leaving Minna for his burial as we pray to God to give his family the fortitude to bear the lost,'' Ilerika told

Until his death, Yusuf Dauda was a former member of the Confederation of Africa Handball (CAHB) Commission, and a former member of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
