Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington paid Manchester United a surprise visit during their Premier League crunch clash at Old Trafford.

The 32-year-old watched the Red Devils forced to a goalless draw in the meeting as they continued to fight for a top four finish at the end of the season.

After the match, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer presented the Hollywood star, who played 'John Snow' in the series with a shirt which had 'King in the North' on the back.

The EPL club however shared the post on their social media platform with a caption: " From one King in the North to another. Great to welcome Game of Thrones star and MUFC fan Kit Harington to Old Trafford on Sunday. "

Metro Sport reports that Man United defender Chris Smalling was overly excited to meet the actor as he shared the post on Instagram.

He said: "Of course the King in the North is a red ‍♂ Great to meet you Kit, can't wait for the new season to start!"

Spanish League giants Valencia also had in their company Lena Headey, who played Cersei Lannister in the same movie at Mestalla Stadium.

The club said on their official Twitter handle that: "Sorry @ManUtd you might have the King in the North but we have the Queen of our hearts #teamcersei #womenpowe r ."

Meanwhile, the eighth, and final, season of Game of Thrones begins in April, but Harington is not the only Manchester United fan among the cast of the hit HBO show.

Also, John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly, had once presented Marcus Rashford with the player of the month prize.

The 29-year-old featured all 90 minutes as United held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford despite numerous injury problems.
