Jurgen Klopp reveals exciting injury boost on 2 Liverpool stars as EPL title race heats up

Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are close to making their return to Liverpool first team action says Jurgen Klopp.

According to Metro, the German tactician is upbeat Chamberlain is regaining his fitness after a long-term knee injury that has ruled him of action for about one year, while Gomez is expected to stage him comeback by the end of March after not appearing for the Reds in 2019.

Interestingly, the return of the former Arsenal man would be a major boost for the Kop side, who are looking forward to be crowned Premier League champions at the end of the term.

"Ox is doing 70 per cent of team training," Klopp said.

"He trains full, but not as much as the others. Then he leaves a bit early to do something else and the things he needs.

"Everyone is always looking for a reaction, but nothing has happened yet.

"We have to prepare him for his entire career, not just one particular game. When he's in training it looks very nice," the German tactician added.

The next FIFA window will hold at the end of March and Klopp is confident Gomez will be good to go when hostilities resume after the break.

Incidentally, Liverpool's next big Premier League fixture comes up against Tottenham at Anfield on March 31, as they continue their quest for their first Premier League silverware.

"I think after the international break Joe should be okay," Klopp noted.

"If nobody gets injured before then we'll have a proper choice. Joe is doing his rehab and looks good, big steps, outside running and all these things," the former Dortmund manager submitted.
