Real Madrid star faces Champions League ban for 1 terrible reason during Ajax win

Sergio Ramos is facing a possible Champions League ban after acknowledging his yellow card in Real Madrid's 2-1 win over Ajax on Wednesday night was a deliberate attempt.

Frenchman Karim Benzema netted the opener for Real Madrid in the second stanza off an assist from Vinicius Junior but Ajax's Hakim Ziyech levelled scores for the home-side.

And in the 87th minute, Marco Asensio scored the second for the Los Blancos, to claim a 2-1 lead going into the reverse fixture next month.

However, with two minutes left on the clock Ramos was flashed a yellow card meaning he will sit out the tie at Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spaniard would stage a comeback if Real Madrid progress to the quarter-final.

But Ramos may have jeopardized his case after revealing that his yellow card was intentional.

'Yes, the truth is that seeing the result... it's something I had in mind,' Ramos said after the game.

"It is not to underestimate the opposition but sometimes you have to make tough decisions,"
Ramos stressed.

Interestingly, Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal in 2017, intentionally received a yellow against APOEL, but Europe's football governing body, UEFA increased his ban to two matches.

And in 2010, UEFA handed Jose Mourinho one-match touchline ban after the Portuguese tactician instructed Ramos and Xabi Alonso to get themselves red-carded in a Champions League group-stage clash against Ajax.
