Super Eagles' star completes big money move to top Chinese club

Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has completed a move to Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua after leaving Changchun Yatai who relegated at the end of the season.

Odion Ighalo was linked with many clubs in Europe since the relegation of Yatai, but the 29-year-old striker wants to continue his football career in China.

Shanghai Shenhua confirmed the transfer deal of Odion Ighalo on their official social media page adding that the club are glad to have the Nigerian.

Ighalo is now expected to reunite with his former Watford Manager Flores Sanchez at Shanghai Shenhua.

"The joining of Odion Ighalo will effectively enhance Shenhua's attack and enrich the offensive means.

"With two seasons of experience in the Super League and working with current coach Flores, Ighalo will be able to integrate into the team as quickly as possible. Looking forward to his new season, he will help Shenqi to win more victories,'' the club said in a statement on their site.

Odion Ighalo and Nigerian football star Obafemi Martins are now teammates and he thanked the former Inter Milan star for the advise over his move to Shanghai.

Meanwhile, Odion Ighalo will now be training hard to make his debut for his new Chinese Super League club Shanghai when the new season starts on March 1.
