Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr claims Nigeria's squad has no big stars, gives reason

Gernot Rohr has revealed that Super Eagles current squad will not parade an exceptional player during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

According to allnigeriasoccer .com citing TV Continental, the Franco-German tactician stressed that after no Nigerian made Africa's best XI at the 2018 CAF Awards, the Eagles must play as a unit to be successful at Africa's greatest football fiesta in Egypt.

He disclosed that the current Super Eagles squad have no big stars.

''Since the World Cup the team changed, we invited some new young players who did very well, we have players who are playing in Europe, we have players who are playing in big teams,'' Rohr was quoted as saying at TV Continental.

''We don't have big stars in our team, you see none of our players was in the African Team of the Year, we don't have these players who Nigeria had in the past.

''Our strength is playing collective football with good spirit. Let's work with this kind of spirit all the time and we'll be ready by the 15th of June," Rohr submitted.

At the last count, Ahmed Musa, Obi Mikel, Emmanuel Emenike, Junior Ajayi, Joseph Yobo, Taye Taiwo and Vincent Enyeama are some Eagles stars that have made it to CAF Team of the Year previously.
