The duo had spells in their native country Netherlands, Spain, Scotland and Qatar as both players won several trophies before ending their careers.

The pair who were born on May 15, 1970, made their first team debut for Ajax in 1988 and were part of the team under Louis Van Gaal that won the UEFA Cup, Champions League and five Eredivisie titles.

After failing to sign a new six-year deal with the Amsterdam club, Ronaldo and Frank moved to joined Van Gaal in Barcelona for £22million in a bid to recapture the Champions League.

Their first season, the De Boer brothers won the La Liga with the Catalan side but things went bad as Van Gaal was asked before Frank was banned for testing positive to nandrolone a year later.

On the other hand, Ronald endured a barren spell scoring just one goal out of 33 matches at the Camp Nou and left to join Scottish side Glasgow Rangers to play under another Dutch coach Dickson Advocaat.

His brother Frank later joined him in 2003 after a brief spell with Turkish side Galatasary but both left Scotland to end their careers in Qatar but Ronald had won five trophies with Rangers.

They featured for Al-Rayyan and Al-Shamal before drawing the curtains in their careers but they will forever be remembered for their success in the game.

Their international careers of both of them was at the top level for many years before venturing into their respective managerial careers.

Ronaldo was assistant to Frank with their boyhood club, Ajax and led them to Eredivisie titles before the younger twin joined Inter Milan leaving his brother at the Amsterdam Arena.
